Tragic images of people in their final moments.
For a millennia, the last words spoken by people before their death have been considered to be of high importance or significance, as they represent the final mark they leave on the living world. Today, with the prevalence of technology and media, it’s not wholly uncommon for a person’s final moments to be captured visually. Live broadcasts, mobile phone pictures and even photos taken by the victims themselves have all managed to capture people in the final seconds of life. A high number of these occurrences have taken place with regards to celebrities or other famous figures, who are more likely to have a camera on them at any given time. In certain bizarre cases, it was actually the taking of the photo that caused the death in the first place, granting an even greater sense of melancholy to the resulting image.
This list takes a look at 17 truly haunting photos that chronicle the very final moments of people’s lives, whether they were aware of that fact or not. Please note that some of these entries may contain disturbing content, and may upset more sensitive readers.

Perhaps we should bring some of these medieval weapons back, so people can actually win wars. These people did not joke around, that’s for sure. They meant total business when it came to succeeding at a battle. The craftsmanship behind the weapons are beyond violent….we’re thinking there were many psychopaths living during this time. They are the only kind of people that could possibly come up with such gruesome concepts for these things!

10 Insane Medical Beliefs From The Past

Original source : http://listverse.com
Posted : October 2014
Author : Julie Battin

People who lived in the past had some pretty crazy ideas about the world. There was a time when no one was safe from being accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake, and people refused to sail across the Atlantic for fear of falling off the edge of the world. Today, we can laugh at our ancestors for actually believing this junk, but their beliefs about medicine and the human body make the Salem Witch Trials and Flat Earth Theory look as normal and boring as a folded blanket.

Spider-Man: 5 Weird Effects Of Real Spider Bites

Original source : http://www.livescience.com

Author : Agata Blaszczak-Boxe

Although Spider-Man got his superhero abilities from a spider bite, ordinary spider-bite victims may have to deal with spider-bite effects that have nothing to do with being able to scale walls and climb around on ceilings. Some of the weirdest effects that spider venom may have on regular, nonsuperhero humans include unwanted erections, dead skin tissue that turns black, unusual rashes, dark pee and sweat so heavy it makes puddles on the floor. However, it is important to remember that such unusual symptoms are extremely rare, and the vast majority of spider bites are harmless, or cause only mild irritation and itchiness. In fact, spiders do not often bite people, and if they do, it is because they feel threatened. Black widow spiders and brown recluse spiders are the only two spider species in North America whose bites may sometimes result in symptoms more serious than minor local pain and swelling, according to Rick Vetter, a retired arachnologist at the University of California, Riverside. Although hobo spiders, which are common in the Pacific Northwest, are also listed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as one of the three types of spiders that can be toxic to people, some researchers have argued that hobo-spider venom may not be so toxic after all.
Here are some of the weirdest effects spider bites have had on people.

Top 10 Cities With The Most Polluted Air

Do you live in a polluted city? It’s a complaint often heard by the residents of “super-cities” like New York and London that their air isn’t clean, but it might surprise you to know that both those cities have relatively healthy air, according to the WHO. On their air pollution database, they use a measure called PM10, which tells you the amount of small particles found in the air of each city  – small being smaller than 10 microns. These are the particles that you can breathe into your lungs, so it’s an important measure to look at when it comes to health risks. On their scale, New York comes in at around 21ug/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter), compared to a global average of 71  – and the lower, the better. London also does pretty well with just 29 ug/m3. So where are all these cities that are bumping up the global average? The results may surprise you, as most lists use the 2007 top 10, as published by Time (this list also takes into account other types of pollutants. But things change quickly, and the data from the WHO in 2011 has some new contenders, so here are our Top 10 Cities With The Most Polluted Air.

Actors and actresses always go above and beyond the call of duty when filming a movie and there have been countless tales of many a crazy actor risking life and limb for the art of cinema. You just need to look no further than Tom Cruise’s death deifying antics on that Qatar skyscraper in Mission: Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol to see how far even the most comfortably richest of Hollywood talent will look the grim reaper dead in the eye for the sake of a scene. Often of course, this can lead to serious accidents during filming, which nevertheless makes for an entertaining read for us mere mortals to scoff at while living our own boring workaday lives, but obviously a worry for the people involved. While jealousy may be the real reason we take so much joy at the misfortune of the rich and famous, who doesn’t like finding out what really goes on behind the scenes that we don’t hear about with film-making? We admire enough actors and actresses for doing their own stunts and putting their body on the line when it all goes well, so why shouldn’t we see the proverbial bloopers? Here are six actors or actresses who have thankfully survived almost-fatal accidents during filming this year’s biggest films. In no particular order of severity, but all equally entertaining, I present to you danger, humour, and horror intertwined.

9 Strange Sports-Related Deaths

1  Raymond Chapman Killed by Spitball
Raymond Chapman, a shortstop for the Cleveland Naps and later the Indians, has the dubious distinction of being the only ballplayer to die of a game-related injury in the major leagues. On August 16, 1920, Chapman was hit by a pitch at the top of the 5th inning in a game with the New York Yankees. Back then, spitballs and other ornery tricks were quite common and the ball thrown by Carl Mays was reportedly very erratic and hard to see. It hit Chapman so hard, it sounded like the crack of a bat. Chapman froze momentarily before falling to the ground with blood pouring out his ear; he died early the next day. After that, umpires were required to immediately replace dirty balls, although the batting helmet didn't become mandatory until 1971.

We have all heard about human experiments. Just search under the key words "human experiment" on Google Search Engine and surely you will find the top ten list of the most cruel research studies of the 1900s, some of which attached a medical rhetoric rationalizing their scientific value, while others were shamelessly performed in times of war and hatred. From the infamous concentration camp infernos of the Nazi Germans to The Monster Study, an experiment conducted on twenty-two orphan children in Iowa in 1939, to the Poison Laboratory of the Soviets secret services, known as The Chamber to Unit 731, a bio-chemical warfare unit of the Imperial Japanese Army existing in the pause between the two World Wars, disturbing images and reports of the vivisection of pregnant women and the barbaric treatment of human subjects continue to haunt the credibility of both the medical community and governmental organizations.

We know soda isn't good for our health. The acids within one bottle alone can strip metal and are often used to de-grease car engines. So the next time you drink a little soda, probably after taking a glass of milk at the dinner table because your mom made you do it first, you'll be disgusted after seeing what happens in your stomach...
Ugghh... so gross!
