London's
Royal Victoria Dock was once a hotbed of industry and commerce. In particular,
this waterfront location was home to some of the nation's leading flour mills:
namely the Rank Hovis Premier Mill, and that vast behemoth of the industrial revolution
known as Millennium Mills.
Now abandoned for more than three decades, these rotting
mills stand in stark contrast to a district fast developing. Heading down to
the docks, I decided to pay them a visit – tackling the tight site security to
get a look inside these last vestigial skeletons of early Edwardian industry.
