Houses are different. And if some of us are looking for more
expensive, others decide to build a house for themselves ... and, out of scrap
materials. All these houses are quite unusual, and all without exception are
built from unusual materials.
Nivelles, Belgium. This house is made out of
14,000 Carlsberg beer cases. Construction began in August 2007 in an attempt to
set a new world record for the largest building of beer cases.
Caroline Barry built a house out of straw bales, timber and plastic bottles.
House electrified, all power comes from solar panels, wind turbines. This is
ultimate green house, that has it's own wastage system and water supply.
76-year-old Maria Pons and her home made from plastic bottles in the village of El Borbollón. She built a house out of
bottles, because she could not afford to buy a more comfortable home.
East London, Container
City. Artists took old
shipping containers and turned them into living quarters, including a studio
for artists. Using this technique, a construction company «Urban Space
Management» has built more than 15 homes.
The corridor to the ice hotel in Sweden - the world's first ice
hotel. The temperature in the room is equal to -5º C.
Porcelain Museum
in the coastal town of Tianjin
is covered in millions antique porcelain pieces and 20 tons of crystal. It took
5 years to build it.
This house was built almost entirely out of garbage, including used car tires.
Originally built as soldier barracks for the Second World War, has become a
modern home thanks to the skill and ingenuity of Ann Lewis and her husband. In
October 2006 the house was put up for sale for almost 500,000 pounds sterling
that's around $650,000.

Artist Tito Ingeneri from Argentina built a house from more than 30,000 bottles.
A Chinese worker built this unusual "egg" house, because he could not
afford to rent an apartment in Beijing.
This cabin is made fromof bamboo poles, bags, and wood shavings. The house
stands in the courtyard of an apartment complex.
2009,Surrey, UK. «Top Gear» presentor James May
and about 1,000 volunteers built the world's first full house from Lego blocks.
The construction took 3.3 million plastic bricks. The house has a toilet and
shower.
