Wrongly Accused? 3 Spiders May Not Liquify Human Tissue After All

The bites of some spiders can sometimes cause necrosis, the death of human tissue. However, a few spider species may have been incriminated in necrosis cases without sufficient evidence, experts say. A new study, published this month in the journal Toxicon, suggests that the venom of the Australian white-tailed spider - which has a reputation on the Internet of being powerful enough to kill human tissue - may not be so toxic after all. In fact, there were no signs of necrosis in a man recently bitten by a white-tailed spider, despite the man's fears that he would need drastic treatments, said Dr. Scott Weinstein, a toxinologist at Women's and Children's Hospital in North Adelaide, Australia, who treated the man and wrote the study.

People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion. It is hard for a seeing person to imagine, but the body's need for sleep is so strong that it is able to handle virtually all physical situations to make it happen.

The first purported photo of Nessie was published in The Daily Mail on April 21, 1934.
The infamous Loch Ness monster often appears, according to legend, accompanied by Earth tremors and swirling bubbles from the Scottish lake of the same name. However, at least one researcher believes the shaking ground and bubbles aren't signs of a monster but rather an active fault underlying Loch Ness and other nearby lakes.

Principles of Organic and Biochemistry? Yawn! English Literature 101? An outdated snooze-fest! Differential Equations? That one is just begging to be skipped! Now that college students have the option to take classes on everything from zombies to garbage, gone are the days of choosing between Art History 1 and Art History 2 to round out a schedule. If society’s next great thinkers don’t have extensive knowledge of the literary canon, it might be because they were busy learning what soap operas say about gender roles. Amazing Dolphin Superpowers

10  Sleeplessness
Everything needs sleep. The human world record holder, Randy Gardner, stayed awake for 11 days straight. By the fourth day, he was hallucinating. Not sleeping will eventually kill you and every other mortal creature with higher brain functions - except dolphins, which have apparently found a way around sleep. Baby dolphins actually forgo sleep for the first month of life - and so, therefore, do their parents. The trick is that these amazing sea critters can shut half of their brain off at a time. Scientists tested dolphin reactions without rest for five days straight and their reaction time never slowed. Blood tests for signs of stress or sleep deprivation turned up negative. Dolphins may be able to do this indefinitely. Another study showed that dolphins can use their sonar for 15 days straight with almost perfect accuracy. It makes sense that dolphins evolved a way to keep an eye out for predators while they’re dozing in the open ocean. But the truly fascinating part about all of this is that tests showed visual information was being passed from the snoozing side to the active side. Even though they shut down half of their noggin at a time, the other half can take over all the functions. It’s almost as if they have two brains.

So the story goes that a man borrowed his wealthy friends Rolls Royce to make his family vacation that much more special. Unfortunately somewhere in Europe the car broke down and he had to put a call back home to the Rolls Royce headquarters in England for assistance. They were extremely professional and courteous and they immediately dispatched a pair of expert mechanics who made their way across Europe, and barely a half a day had passed until the two mechanics were there at the vehicle working to fix the problem. It didn’t take them long until the car was up and running and they set on there way once again. The man was thankful that Rolls Royce had provided such a prompt high quality service and that their family vacation wasn’t ruined, but he was also worried about how much that high quality service was going to cost him.

Work often sucks. That is a sad fact of life, and one that we must come to terms with sooner rather than later. Whilst some have the privilege of truly enjoying what they do for a living, many feel unfulfilled with their work. As a result of this lack of enthusiasm, it is not rare for people to turn up intentionally late or sometimes even not at all. If you are going to do this however, it is important you have some form of premeditated excuse in hand. Suitable excuses depend on several things, for example the nature of your work, your colleagues and most importantly your boss. If you ARE the boss however, then your worries should be limited. In fact, why are you even reading this?
