Ferdinand Marcos
Ferdinand Marcos was a lawyer by profession and served as
President of Phillipines from 1965 to 1986, according to an estimate he looted
about $ 5 to 10 billion from the public wealth of Phillipines Government. In 1986 very popular public movement called “people power” forced powerful Ferdinand
Marcos and his family to go into exile in Hawaii,where he died three years
later;

Soharto
Soharto was the second President of Indonesia and he served his
country for 32 years, from 1968 to 1968; According to latest reports he is one
of the most corrupt politicians of the world; Transparency International has put
him on top of the list of most corrupt politicians and his critics allege him
of misappropriating about $ 15-30 billion during his reign. Soharto is also blamed for death of 100000 of East Timor during his 24-year rule.
Sani Abacha
Sani abacha was the Nigerian military leader from 1993 to
1998. According to Transparency International he plundered government money of
worth $ 5 Billion which is equal to 10 % of annual income of Nigeria from
oil in the 5 years of his Presidency. According to news reports, in 2002 Abacha’s family agreed to
return $1.2 billion that was taken from the central bank. Other than corruption
charges he is also charged with human rights abuse. He died of heart attack in
June 1998.
Mobutu Sese Seko
Mobutu Sese Seko served as President of Zaire from 1965 to
1997. According to a report by Transparency International, Mobutu Sese Seko is
world’s third most corrupt leader in last two decades, plundering more than $5
billion USD from his country. According to latest reports he mostly looted the money of aid received from
World Bank for the development of Congo,
Congo
received about $12 billion in aid in 32 years of his rule.
