Raul Oaida tests his bicycle propelled with a self-built jet engine on a
road in the back of his house in Deva, 399 km of Bucharest January 12,
2013. Using his pocket money and sponsorship from various sources,
Oaida, 19, made the engine in about 3 years and became the first
Romanian to build a jet engine in the country after his compatriot Henri
Coanda developed a jet engine for an airplane in 1910 in France, which
is said to be the first ever jet engine. Oaida clocked a speed of up to
42 km per hour with the jet bicycle during the test.
