When it comes to unveiling new vehicles, nothing in the world comes close to Detroit’s North American International Auto Show. This year’s event, running through Sunday, features more than 50 global debuts. But as usual, it’s the concept cars that seem to draw the most attention. Here are nine we wouldn’t mind taking for a spin.

Cadillac Elmiraj Concept
Perhaps one of the coolest Cadillac concepts to date, the Elmiraj is further evidence that despite the carmaker’s desire to compete with European brands, it has no plans to abandon its American heritage. Boasting a host of innovative technology features, this ride also pays homage to classic Caddie styling cues of years past.

Honda FCEV Concept
When it comes to eye-catching concepts, the wilder the better. And despite the many practical applications featured in the FCEV, the fuel cell’s far-out design represents everything that concepts have come to represent in the world of cars.

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept
Named after the corner of the famed Spa-Francorchamps race circuit in Belgium, the Eau Rouge was influenced by Infiniti’s partnership with Formula One racing and the carmaker’s Red Bull team. Very daring design.

Kia GT4 Stinger Concept
Dubbed by Kia as its most aggressive concept car ever, the GT4 Stinger is a sure sign the carmaker has no plans to slow down. Inspired by the brand’s success in the Pirelli World Challenge racing series, the two-door concept sets a completely new benchmark for Kia in terms of design and performance.

Lexus LF-NX Concept
With a look befitting a sci-fi flick, the Lexus LF-NX turbo concept makes a pretty bold statement about the future of the high-end carmaker. The striking design elements of the crossover indicate that Lexus has more than enough in its arsenal to fight off any would-be usurpers to the luxury throne.

Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe
The Concept S-Class Coupe is a dazzling display of why the German brand continues to delight. Our fingers are crossed that the eye-popping concept signals a future model already in the works.

Nissan Sport Sedan Concept
While clearly a concept, the potential production element of the Nissan Sport Sedan makes it one of the show’s sexiest debuts. Its long, low-sloping body suggests Nissan’s future aspirational vehicles might not be relegated to models like the popular GT-R.

Toyota FT-1 Concept
Intended to represent the future of Toyota, the FT-1 is being dubbed the “spiritual pace car” for global design strategy. The sporty coupe was developed with Calty Design Research in the gaming world of Gran Turismo, with a nod to popular past Toyotas, like the Supra.

Volvo XC Concept Coupé
As the winner of the NAIAS best concept design award, the Volvo XC is a great example of how thin the line has gotten between concepts and production models. If we hadn’t known better, we’d have driven this beauty right off the floor.
