Gravity Defying Photographs

All of us are part of a world which is governed by the laws of physics, namely, gravity. However, given below are a few of the most mind-blowing photographs you will ever come across! A perfect combination of photography, acrobatics and amazing locations produces these gravity-defying results. From China to France, these artists have taken inspiration from all over the world. 

Note that NONE of the photos are altered or photoshopped. They have been created using creative props like supports and acrobatics, so they are truly amazing!

Born in Hubei, China Lei Wei is a contemporary artist who is famous for his gravity-defying photographs.  His works of art are famous for their eccentric locations and postures.  It’s hard to believe that these photographs haven’t had any help from the many photo-editing software’s out there.  However, he insists that his work is a combination of photography and performance art.  He makes the use of props like mirrors, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics to achieve the desired results. Wei’s goal is to “make everything possible”. His artwork has been exhibited all over the world including Asia, Australia, Europe and South America.

The following photos are part of an ad campaign created by NAM for the Harbor City Chocolate Trail, a charity project for the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation.  Everything in these photos, including the liquids, is part of a single photograph. The series uses their signature method of suspending objects and people with strings and cables to create weightless environments that appear to be caught mid-explosion. 

Philippe Ramette is famous for his gravity-defying photographs. Initially a sculptor, he began to experiment with gravity, weightlessness and our relationship with the landscape. After looking at these magnificent photographs, it’s very hard to believe that they haven’t been digitally influenced.  In reality, they are the result of complicated arrangements using weight bearing structures (or lead weights for the underwater shots). These are hidden by this clothes or the angle at which the shot has been taken.  He aims for an incredibly serene effect in all his photographs.
