Shown here is the golden tortoise beetle - a tiny, metallic North American insect
that belongs to the leaf beetle family, Chrysomelidae, which includes the
flea beetles, asparagus beetles and longhorn beetles
This insect is 5-7 mm in size.
The bug is named The Golden Tortoise Beetle because of the stunning similarity to
the tortoise shell and the gold color, which the bug would be able to change.
Another surprising fact about this insect is that it eats only the green leafy part of the morning glory plant.
