Michael Lohan
Less than 12 hours after being released from jail,
Michael Lohan is once again behind bars. TMZ reports that Lohan
contacted his ex, Kate Major, who has a restraining order against him.
Major had phoned police, complaining that Lohan was calling her
incessantly. Police went to her apartment, and after Lohan called again,
they went to his hotel. In an attempt to escape, Lohan allegedly jumped
off his 3rd floor balcony, falling 34 feet. He was charged with
violating a condition of his pretrial release and resisting arrest
without violence.
Michael Lohan was arrested in Florida following an alleged domestic dispute that occurred in early on the morning of Tuesday, October 25. According to police, Lohan showed up at the door of his ex-fiance, tabloid reporter Kate Major, who has a restraining order against him. The two were due to appear in court that day for a hearing that would determine whether or not the temporary restraining order would be made permanent. Major, 28, was granted the order on October 3rd, after telling the court that Lohan had been harassing her and her father. Major told police that after showing up uninvited, Lohan became violent and was yelling at her about the court hearing, and because she refused to give him oral sex. Lohan gave police another version of the story, saying that Major asked him for a ride to her house, where they had sex and then got into an argument. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.
Lohan, father to Mean Girls star turned bad-girl socialite Lindsay Lohan, has had more than his fair share of legal troubles. When Lindsay was a five-year-old future superstar in 1990, her dad was convicted of insider trading and sentenced to three years. Lohan wound up in court-ordered anger management classes after punching a sanitation worker in 2003, an incident that took place after he had allegedly hit his brother-in-law with a shoe. In March of 2007 Lohan was released after serving more than two years at the Collins Correctional Center in Buffalo, N.Y., for causing a fiery car crash while driving under the influence. While incarcerated, Lohan sought to change his reckless ways by becoming a minister through Teen Challenge, a ministry whose focus is keeping adolescents sober. Would-be reality star Lohan did not stay out of trouble long. In May, 2009, Lohan, 49, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated harassment after he allegedly made a phone call threatening to kill his then-girlfriend, Erin Muller, 24, and himself if Muller left him. Lohan pleaded not guilty to the charge, and a Long Island judge agreed to let him go provided he stayed on the up and up for a year.

Dina Lohan
In June 2008, a Long Island judge threatened
Lindsay Lohan's mom Dina Lohan with arrest and jail time if she missed
another scheduled Family Court Hearing. The hearing was to determine
whether the newly-free Michael Lohan would have the right to visit two
of his children - Lindsay's younger siblings Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10.
Dina, who had placed a restraining order barring Michael from seeing
the kids, had missed a hearing in June 2007 because she was in
California visiting Lindsay in rehab.
Jeff Archuleta
Finishing as a runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol,
Utah teen David Archuleta had the constant, arguably overbearing,
guidance of his dad Jeff (pictured at right) during the competition. In
January, the elder Archuleta, a devout Mormon, was arrested during a
raid at the Queens of Reiki, a Midvale, UT. massage parlor, and charged
with prostitute solicitation. Archuleta, whose intensive coaching led Idol
producers to ban him from backstage rehearsals, pleaded no contest to
the class B misdemeanor charge and was ordered to pay a $582 fine.
Frankie Lons
The top-rated BET reality series Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is,
which ran for three seasons, captured the R&B singer's professional
career, as well as her struggle to mend her relationship with her
mother Frankie Lons (right, with Cole), who was largely absent during
Cole's childhood due to drug addiction. Lons, who has been arrested 33
times mostly for drug offenses and prostitution, had to give up Cole,
27, to foster care at the age of four. Lons was in jail during the
filming of the first season of the show. In March, Lons was the subject
of a bizarre Internet rumor: it was purported that the chatty ex-addict
had perished in a car crash. Imani Entertainment, Cole's label,
attempted to quash the rumors, stating that Lons is alive and well in
Atlanta.
William and Thalia Zane
William and Thalia Zane, parents of Titanic
actor Billy Zane, were accused last November of conning students of a
medical college they ran in Chicago. The pair shut down the 31-year-old
Medical Careers Institute and disappeared shortly after collecting
$30,000 in tuition fees from about 60 aspiring electrocardiography and
ultrasound technicians. The students, left with nontransferable credits,
were told that the couple had moved back to Greece. An attorney for the
school announced that, like many businesses, Medical Careers Institute
had simply gone out of business.
Lynne Spears
In July 2008, a tragic secret was revealed about
Lynne Spears, the mother of Britney Spears. In 1975, at the age of 20,
Spears fatally struck a 12-year-old boy named Anthony Winters while
driving her brother to the hospital in Kentwood, LA. According to
representatives for Spears, the incident haunts her to this day. More
recently, Spears engaged in a heated legal battle with Britney's former
manager Sam Lufti. Lufti filed a suit against the Spears in February,
claiming to have suffered libel, defamation, battery and emotional
distress while employed by the famous family. According to Spears,
statements made against Lufti in her tell-all book Through the Storm
are constitutionally protected. The lawsuit comes after a restraining
order filed against Lufti by Spears in February 2008, in which she
alleged that Lufti was drugging her daughter with prescription sleep
aids.
Alan Panettiere
Lesley and Alan Panettiere, the proud parents of Heroes
star Hayden Panettiere, attended an August 2008 charity event hosted by
their daughter at Eva Longoria's restaurant Beso in LA. At the party,
Panettiere reportedly became jealous because his wife was talking to
another man. Later, at their West Hollywood home, an argument ensued,
during which Alan allegedly struck Lesley in the face. Panettiere was
taken into police custody, charged with one felony count of domestic
violence and held on $50,000 bail.
Candy Spelling
Following the June 2006 death of TV and film giant
Aaron Spelling, his wife Candy Spelling became the sole executor of his
estimated $500 million fortune. Her daughter, Tori, who has starred in
several reality shows including Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, reportedly inherited only $800,000. The Beverly Hills 90210
alum's strained relationship with her mother is likely to blame for the
vast discrepancy in sums. In April of this year, Candy Spelling's
former maid Lourdes Serrano filed a lawsuit against the millionaire
widow, in which she claims Spelling unlawfully made her clock out during
her allotted ten-minute breaks.
Carl Blonsky
Carl Blonsky, the father of Hairspray
leading actress Nikki Blonsky, was jailed and charged with assault with
grievous bodily harm after a July 2008 fight at the Providenciales
Airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands left Elaine Clinton-Golden,
mother of ninth season America's Next Top Model finalist Bianca
Golden, hospitalized. The cat fight reportedly began when the Goldens
moved Nikki Blonsky's luggage so they could sit down. A verbal argument
turned physical, and both Nikki Blonsky and Golden were charged with
assault with actual bodily harm and later released on bail. Carl
Blonsky, 53, was denied bail and held in the Caribbean jail, but was
later released on $3,000 bail after his attorneys appealed on the
grounds of Blonsky's health issues.
Bob Duff
An argument over a 21st birthday party for
actress/singer Hilary Duff resulted in the Lizzie McGuire star's dad,
Bob Duff (left), being thrown in jail for 10 days. Susan Duff (far
right), Hilary's mom, took her ex-husband Bob to court demanding that he
contribute $25,000 to Hilary's party - the same amount he gave to their
other daughter, Napoleon Dynamite star Haylie on her 23rd. Bob
was ordered to pay $12,500, and was later charged with contempt of
court for selling assets without court approval, an action against which
an injunction was in place. He was ordered to pay his profits -
$367,537 - to the court.
Joe Simpson
While avoiding any major run-ins with the law,
"Papa" Joe Simpson, the ever-present dad and manager of pop songstresses
Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, has made a few blunders while overseeing
the girls' careers. In January, Joe and Jessica were hit with a $10
million breach of contract lawsuit for blocking the sales of a workout
video Jessica shot back in 2005 for fitness company SpeedFit.
Reportedly, Jessica was more messy than athletic during the shoot,
allegedly showing up to the studio tipsy. When Joe refused to sign off
on the video, Speedfit owner Alex Astilean asked Jessica to come back
for take two. Jessica, who's gained some weight since the shoot,
refused, leading Astilean to file the lawsuit.
Rick & Kathy Hilton
According to The Village People cowboy Randy
Jones, heiress Paris Hilton's parents Rick and Kathy Hilton are no
strangers to life on the edge. According to the Macho Man
singer, the couple snorted cocaine off the carpeted floor of New York's
famous club Studio 54 in 1977. The hotel moguls vehemently denied the
allegations, stating that they did not move to New York until 1979.
