The Man They Could Not Hang

Author: Brooke Windsor

When someone was sentenced for execution in the not too distant past, being left to hang from a rope until dead was always the most popular method. It provided an easy to observe spectacle without being blatantly gruesome or cruel since the victim would generally be required to wear a type of cloth bag over their heads to keep the spectators from watching the terrified faces made in the man or woman’s last moments. However, even though this aspect of the event was denied to onlookers, they could still get an entertaining kick from watching a supposed bad guy either have his neck broken from the initial drop or be strangled to death. It comes as a shock then that one man made this very common execution method almost impossible.

What Would Happen If A Meteor Hit The Earth?

An asteroid the size of football field will buzz past Earth on 15th February, near our dear planet. It will not hit our Earth, but if the case was something like this to happen, what would it look? An impact like this would leave such a big crater, size of Washington. Scientist are pretty sure, that something like this would happen, because a similar size asteroid made impact with Earth in 1908. A meteorite weighing 100 million pounds entered the Earth’s atmosphere over Tunguska in Siberia, burning up the sky and releasing the same amount of energy which would possess 185 nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima.

Airlines With The Most Delicious Food

By Emily H. Bratcher
September 01, 2011

Airplane food has a reputation for being boring, even disgusting. In fact, an entire website is devoted to posting passengers' images of airline food -- the good, the bad and the downright ugly. These real-life photos prove that Beef Stroganoff with roasted vegetables may sound scrumptious on the menu, but when the flight attendant hands you some congealed beef substitute with limp broccoli, your appetite vanishes as quickly as your excitement for the plane ride. After all, one of the ways you can avoid mile-high boredom (aside from reading and watching films) is to eat. If the food is inedible, then your airplane experience is tainted.
Still, not all airlines skimp on the quality of their grub. Some are true epicureans, offering passengers not only a choice chicken or beef, but also gluten-free options, fine champagne and food presentations so beautiful you could cry. And thanks to AirTrax, an organization that monitors airline satisfaction, we can pinpoint the airlines that serve the best food. For its 2011 Passenger's Choice Awards, AirTrax surveyed more than 18.8 million people about their experiences on more than 200 airlines. We used AirTrax's findings (and a few other sources) to come up with these superlatives for the world's most delicious airline food. If you're already spending hundreds - even thousands - on an expensive plane ticket, you might as well book a flight on an airline that serves the best food.

Cannibalism - People Who Eat Other People

By : Mark Ball

Have you ever been so hungry you’d eat just about anything? You look in the fridge and search through your kitchen cupboards for something to fill that groaning hole in your stomach. Gathering together all the edible items you then set about mixing them into a bizarre, otherwise unthinkable concoction and, to your surprise, you like it. You wonder why nobody has ever thought of mixing powdered egg, banana yogurt and paprika before. That’s probably how cannibalism was invented hundreds of thousands of years ago. Although there was probably much more slicing and dicing involved. That’s right, cannibalism is as old as mankind and we certainly weren’t the first to come up with the idea. Animals have been eating members of their own species since the dawn of time and think nothing of it. To them it’s perfectly natural. Many species of arachnid, for example, instinctively begin to chow down on their mothers as soon as they are born and some mammals have been known to do the same thing. In fact, in some cases mammalian mothers will eat their own offspring if they feel the conditions needed to rear offspring have not been met. Ever seen a hamster do this? It’s pretty disturbing.
